Few men ever consider their
prostate gland until it starts to give them problems. Small in
size but a source of big problems, this gland accounts for a
staggering 2.7 million doctor visits in North America each year.
Most men over the age of 40 will experience some type of prostate
problem that will affect their sexual and urinary function, if
they fail to adopt certain protective measures.
Doctors often tell men, "If you live long enough you will
eventually get an enlarged prostate".
This is not true. Prostate problems
are very easy to prevent, and to eliminate if you already have
them. Symptoms of prostate trouble begin with frequent visits to
the toilet, especially at night; trouble starting or stopping a
urine stream, or dribbling; painful ejaculation; low back pain;
chronic constipation; or a burning sensation upon urination.
Urologists in Germany have been
using plant sterols and sterolins for over two decades for the
treatment of enlarged prostate. In one double-blind,
placebo-controlled study, 200 patients of an average age of 65,
with BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia), were given sterols and sterolins for six months. The
treatment group showed a rapid reduction of the symptoms mentioned
above, an increase in peak urinary flow and a decrease in
inflammation. Researchers also found that when they compared the
effectiveness of sterols and sterolins to the drug Proscar, the
sterols and sterolins were better.
Another German study involving 177 patients found that an
improvement in symptoms occurred within 30 days. The PSA (prostate
specific antigen) test scores were also found to return to normal
within six weeks of taking plant sterols and sterolins. As well,
it was found that sterols and sterolins halted the conversion of
testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is thought to be
involved in stimulating new cells to be deposited in the prostate,
causing swelling and urine flow to be decreased. DHT is also
implicated in male-pattern baldness. Researchers in the German
study, noted that bald participants who were taking sterols and
sterolins mentioned their hair was starting to grow back.
Recently, over 100 members from the Prostate Help Association
were invited to take SteroCel, a proprietary brand of beta-sitosterol
capsules over a twelve-week period and to complete a standard
International Prostate Symptom Score Sheet (IPSS) at set
intervals. All score sheets returned were recorded. The results
were as follows:
BPH TRIAL RESULTS
|
75% of participants
recorded an average 23% improvement in IPSS after 3 weeks |
83% of participants recorded an average 33% improvement in IPSS after 8 weeks |
90% of participants recorded an average
44% improvement in IPSS after 12 weeks |
"Of all the trials to date I
have not seen any produce such an overall
successful set of figures as the SteroCelTM
BPH trial"

Long-term safety studies report no side effects and no drug
inter-actions, so it is safe for those on medication.
Contrary to
popular opinion, BPH is not as inevitable as old age. Sterols and
Sterolins can ensure BPH does not happen to you.
To maintain a peak-performing prostate, take three capsules of
Sterolcel, exercise moderately, eat plenty of fresh fruits and
vegetables, take 30mg of zinc a day, and decrease your consumption
of coffee, alcohol, fried foods and sugar.
Recognise the early
warning signs and adopt the above recommendations to optimise your
prostate health.
